Laurie Ann Humiston Raymond, 51 of Ferrisburgh, VT, died unexpectedly on Sunday August 26th surrounded by family and friends.

She was born on April 9, 1967, the youngest of 7 children, to Erma Mae Stokes Humiston and Howard E Humiston, Sr.  She attended grade school in Ferrisburgh and graduated from Vergennes Union High School in 1985.

Following graduation Laurie worked at Luigi’s, Small City Market, Denny’s and for the last 18 years, Dakin Farm, where she worked up to being a USDA certified Production Manager.  Her most favorite job however, was that of being a wife and a mother.

After dating for 8 years, on May 11, 1991 Laurie married her fellow classmate and high school sweetheart, Andrew Raymond.  Together they spent many hours fishing, watching sporting events and just spending time together and in later years going to the casino.  In April of 1997 there lives were forever changed by the birth of their only child, a son, Dylan Andrew Raymond.   Andy and Dylan were Laurie’s heart and joy and the brightest lights in her life.  Laurie became a dedicated and involved baseball mom, soccer mom, wrestling mom, and basketball mom.  She and Andy rarely missed any of Dylan’s games.  Laurie loved that her husband and son were best friends and hunting and fishing buddies.  She was always very proud of the deer, turkeys and fish they brought home.

Laurie loved to have fun.  Her friends and co-workers will miss her presence, her smile and her infectious laugh.  She was a hard worker but she sure knew how to have a good time. Things will not be the same without her.

Family was everything to Laurie and she loved them all.  She is survived by her husband Andy, son Dylan and his girlfriend, Sondra LaRoche, brother Howard Humiston, Jr, and other siblings Albert (Marlene) LaRose, Reggie (Doris) LaRose, Rodney (Arthea) LaRose and Darlene Stark.  Survivors also include her brothers and sisters in-law Bob and Joyce Raymond and James and Brandy Raymond, her father and mother-in law Robert and Margaret Raymond, and several special nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends, and her dogs Jazmynn and Sherman.  She was predeceased by her parents and her sister Emeline LaRose.

The family would like to thank the Ferrisburgh First Response, Vergennes Area Rescue Squad, and the doctors, nurses, and staff of UVM Medical Center for all they did for Laurie.  They also want to thank Laurie’s dear cousin Tammie Booska for helping the family navigate through this difficult time.

Per her wishes there were no calling hours or funeral service.  Instead a Celebration of her Life will be held 1 p.m. on Saturday September 1 at the American Legion Post 14 in Vergennes where she was an auxiliary member for many years.

Laurie was a generous soul and gave of herself until the bitter end where she gave the gift of life through organ donation.  In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Ferrisburgh First Reponse, PO Box 25 North Ferrisburgh, VT 05473 or Vergennes Area Rescue Squad, PO Box 111 Vergennes, VT 05491.  You may also consider registering to be an organ donor at donatelifevt.org
