Kraton James Chaloux, 29, passed away Sunday, May 31, 2020 at University of Vermont Medical Center in Burlington.
He was born September 15, 1990 in Burlington his father Scott Chaloux, his mother Beth Champagne, and his other mother Christine Ryan.
His hobbies were enjoyment of music
He is survived by his fiancee’ Amanda Smith; his siblings Akeitha, Kassandra, Chris, Tyler and a lot of extended family.

I consider myself so very lucky to have met and gotten to know Kraton when he was a student in a first-year writing class I taught at CCV in Middlebury.
Kraton was kind, soft-spoken, and well-liked among his classmates. On the surface, he seemed extremely shy. Underneath his quiet exterior, he hid a depth of experience, emotion, and intellectual curiosity that, over time, he became comfortable expressing through his writing. His circumstances weren’t easy, but he worked incredibly hard and achieved so much over the semester! I felt honored that Kraton grew to trust me and I was so happy to celebrate his academic successes. Kraton was a hard-working, smart, eager-to-learn student and a person who was challenging himself to do his best in school and life. He impressed me with his humbleness, perseverance, and potential.
I’m so sorry to hear of Kraton’s death. I will always remember his friendly smile when he entered the classroom, his polite and gentle manner, and the many lessons he taught me about gratefulness, patience, and empathy.

I am so sorry to hear about Kraton’s passing. I only knew him as a young child but out of hundreds of children that I have had the privilege of knowing through my work at the Parent Child Center Kraton stands out in my memories. His beautiful personality and his sing song voice remained with me all of these years. I remember his curly red hair and green eyes and how he greeted his good friend every morning with a “hello dumbbell “ in his sweet little sing song voice that was usually met with a swear word in return. Really though they were best of friends during the years they were there. I remember his mom as a quiet sweet red-headed young woman who was reading all the time. I am thinking about you all and so sad that Kraton was taken from you so soon. I know there’s nothing I can say or do that will help but wanted to share that memory and let you know I am thinking about Kraton and his family.
