Olin F Flynn

It is with much sadness and broken hearts that we announce the passing of Olin F. Flynn of Ferrisburg Vermont. He passed away on July 11, 2022 at UVM Medical Center surrounded by his loved ones, due to complications due to a stroke.  He was born in Huntington, VT on November 17, 1927 the son of the late Charles and Madeline (Vincent) Flynn. At the age of 4 he moved to Ferrisburgh and lived there until his death.

He graduated from Vergennes High School. Following graduation he worked for several construction companies while working on the farm alongside his grandfather. He retired in 1992 after working 35 years at Hercules in Vergennes as an inspector in the department. He worked on several of the NASA projects that are now in the Smithsonian in Washington DC.

He dedicated over 25 years of coaching baseball from Little League to,Babe Ruth and on to Legion baseball.  His love of baseball was evident in his coaching and the respect his former players still have for him.  He also loved and looked forward to bowling with his two older daughters on the Senior League.  

The most precious gift in life was his family.  He married the love of his life, Eunice Stevens, on November 30, 1946 at St. Peters Church in Vergennes, VT. They had 68 wonderful years together.

He is survived by his five children, Zandra (Marcel) Cousino, Iona (Loren) Smith, Mari (Paul) Quesnel, Shari (Roger) Lussier and Timmy (Erica) Flynn.

His thirteen grandchildren: Amy (Randy) Farnsworth, Ryan (Toni) Cousino, Randy (Billie Jo) Smith, Stacie Smith, Kady (Donavan) Popp, Kellie Marra, Kristi (Lance) Wood, Paul-Matthew (Amanda) Quesnel, Jennifer (Mark) Barnes, Kyle (Lianne) Lussier, Samantha (Jordan) Hillman, Simon (Maddie) Flynn, Maxwell (Briena) Flynn.

His thirty three great grandchildren: Garrett( Elise) Cousino, Tanika Cousino, Mikayla (Garrison) Farnsworth, Kolby Farnsworth, Madison and Sophia Cousino, Elyzabeth (Ryan) Donnelly, Ashlie (Ethan) Gevry, Bailey( Maddie) Smith, Gracie Smith, Destiny Danforth, Jeremiah Popp, Aiden Decker, Braxton and Kaibry Marra, Samanth Jo (Kaden) Odell, Dominick Popp, Ava, Evan and Cowen Wood, Luke and John Quesnel, Celia, Avalee and Maddux Barnes, Charlie, Henry and Lennon Lussier, Tatum and Connor Hillman, Thatcher Flynn, Ellie and Eden Flynn.

His six great great grandchildren; Isla Jensen, Gavin, Gevry, Carter Donnelly, Aryanna, Braylin &, Kaden Odell.

He is survived by sister, Delisle (Len) Letersky, and a brother Elywn (Sue) Flynn and many nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and special neighbors.

He was predeceased by his parents Charles and Madeline Flynn, his loving wife Eunice Flynn, his son Kevin Flynn, his daughter in law Terry Flynn and his three grandchildren, Scott Cousino, Carrie Flynn and Tyler Flynn and a Great Granddaughter, Bryanna Popp.

He will be missed tremendously by his entire family, friends and neighbors. We are all so grateful and cherish all the time we had with him. He taught us to be kind, respectful caring and compassionate and not to judge others. Every day with him was a gift. He brought joy to many through his singing and yodeling. He left a lasting impression on everyone he met.

The wake will be on Thursday July 14, 2022 from 5:00- 8:00 pm at Brown McClay Funeral Home located in Vergennes at 48 South Maple Street. The Funeral will be held on Friday July 15, 2022 at 11:00 AM at St. Peters Church in Vergennes. A burial will take place immediately after the funeral at St. Peters Cemetery.

The family would like to invite everyone to St. Peters Parish Hall adjacent to the church for a luncheon and celebration of his life.

    I’m Sorry to hear of Olin’s passing. You have my deepest sympathy. I have many fond memories of him coming into the Little Otter General Store. He always had a good word to share.He was proud of you kids. I know you will miss him.
