Alan Vernon Stone, 79, of Ferrisburgh passed away at his home Monday January 29, 2024.

Alan was a lifetime resident of Addison County having been born at Clark Nursing Home in Vergennes on April 15, 1944, son of Vernon and Sadie (Bushey) Stone.

He attended Vergennes School and served in the Vermont National Guard from 1964-1970. He married the love of is life Linda on July 23, 1966, and together Alan and Linda raised four children Penny, Jeff, Tricia and Cindy. Alan worked for Polymers Plastics in Middlebury for 28 years and later for Huestis Farms in Bridport. He was a member of American Legion post #14 and Addison County Arie #3801. An avid sportsman, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, and camping, traveling with his wife, playing cards and western movies. Family was very important to Alan and together with Linda they enjoyed many holidays, family trips and celebrations with their children and eventually 8 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.

Alan is survived by his wife of 57 years, Linda and their four children Penny (Lance), Jeff (Angie), Tricia (Andy), Cindy (Josh), eight grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.

A celebration of life will be held Saturday, February 10th, 2024, at the Vergennes Fraternal Order of the Eagles 2pm. Light refreshments will be provided.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Vergennes Area Rescue Squad and Vergennes Fire Department.
