Catherine Claudette “kay” Orvis, 81, passed peacefully, on Thursday December 5th, 2024 at 11:20AM at Burlington Health and Rehab in Burlington, VT.
Kay had been battling lung cancer for some time and had been surrounded by her family and loved ones along with her fur baby, Winnie the days before her passing.
Kay was “a happy lady”. Full of energy and life.
She grew up in Charlotte, VT the daughter of Clayton J. Francis and Roseline B. Davis. Much of her youth was spent at the family store in Charlotte. She spent most of her adult life on the mountain in Lincoln, VT. She was the true “mtn lady” as displayed on her license plate during her driving years. Her favorite place was the mountain side and outdoors. She was loved by many as the doggie daycare/ boarding and grooming kennels for many peoples beloved family fur babys. She raised and trained Australian Shephards and loved animals her entire life. Her family cherishes memories of her playing horseshoes, camping, sugaring with her late husband, picking flowers, fishing, bowling and sledding in the winter. Hot cups of coffee with toast and ruffle potato chips were always available at her table. She could make the world’s best fried potatoes and baked calico beans.
She leaves behind her 3 loving daughters Denise Potter and husband Tim, Suzanne Rouelle and partner Todd Pecor, and Jeanette Martin and Husband Stephen. Two step sons,William “Billy” Orvis and wife April and Randy Orvis and wife Martha. Five Grandchildren, Jennifer Leavitt and husband Brian, Crystal Peake and Husband Nate, Renee’ Munson, Kayla Munson, and Mathew Munson. 2 step Grandchildren Bethany Orvis and Nathaniel Orvis. And 9 Great grandchildren, Jonah, Andrew, Hunter, Oscar, Fisher, Silas, Jay, Melanie, and Aliana.
Kay also leaves behind her younger sister Valerie Gagnon and husband Richard, and their 7 children.
She is predeceased by her Husband Eugene A. Orvis, step daughter Jeanette I. Orvis, grandchild, Nicole Frost, and son in law Jay Rouelle.
Graveside services will be held in the summer of 2025. In lieu of flowers the family requests that you consider making a donation in her name to the Addison Co. Humane Society.

You 3 girls are like sisters and our mothers were best of friends since school. A friendship that last for ever
