Mary Louise (Goulet) Provost, 62, of Ferrisburgh, VT, passed away on Sunday, April 19, 2026, surrounded by those who loved and cherished her.
Mary was born March 16, 1964 in Burlington, VT, the daughter of Beatrice A. (St. Amour) Goulet and Roy W. Goulet.
Mary graduated from Burlington High School in 1982 then went on to University of Vermont, earning a Bachelor of Education in Home Economics.
She married Daniel J. Provost on June 6, 1987 at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Vergennes, VT.
Mary had a successful, 25-year career at Vermont Department of Labor, helping countless individuals develop skills and create a livelihood for themselves and their families.
A devoted wife and mother, Mary gave countless hours to supporting her daughters in all of their endeavors and interests. She was a two-time Girl Scout leader, basketball coach, and VUHS Booster Club and PTO member. Mary was a fixture at VUHS basketball games and was well known for her enthusiastic cheering and non-stop pom pom waving for the Commodores.
She spent many years photographing all the covered bridges in Vermont and was proud to have visited all 251 cities and towns in the state as a member of the 251 Club. She was a passionate crafter and loved incorporating natural elements into her creations.
Mary is survived by her husband, Daniel, her daughters, Erin A. Wildman and Allison A. Provost, her sons-in-law, Joshua and Alden, her granddaughter, Adeline, her siblings, Lois, Diane, and Bill, her nieces, Mia and Mykala, her nephews, Justin, Tim, Brian, and Nick. Preceding Mary in death are maternal and paternal grandparents, her mother and father, mother-in-law, and father-in-law.
The family would like to thank the many caregivers who became part of Mary’s extended family over the years.
Visitation will be held Friday, April 24, 2026 from 4 to 6 p.m. at Brown-McClay Funeral Home in Vergennes.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Mary’s memory may be directed to the Project Independence Program of Elderly Services Inc. based out of Middlebury, VT.
