Andre Ernest Cloutier, 68, passed away Sunday, August 2, 2026, at the University of Vermont Medical Center in Burlington.

 

He was born June 23, 1958, in Middlebury, the son of Ernest and Rollande (Audet) Cloutier.

 

He was a devoted member of Saint Mary’s Catholic Church in Middlebury throughout his whole life.

 

Andre was a beloved member of many families: the one he was born into and the ones he chose. Those who knew Andre will remember his unforgettable kindness, warmth, and the way he tried to share a laugh with anyone who crossed his path, whether it was at a campground, as he was filling your home with oil wearing his Jackman Fuels hat, or through a simple phone call that would never let you feel forgotten.

 

Andre is survived by his daughter, Jenna Steadman, and her husband, Joshua; his son, Andrew Cloutier, and his wife, Lena; his sister, Lucille (Cloutier) Kimball; his brother, Roger Cloutier, and his wife, Cindy; and several nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

 

He was predeceased by his parents; his brother-in-law, Darwin Kimball; his grandchildren; and his brother, John.

 

Visiting hours will be held on Friday, August 14, from 5 to 8 p.m. at Brown-McClay Funeral Home in Vergennes. A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, August 15, at Saint Mary’s Catholic Church in Middlebury. Interment will be at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Middlebury. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Saint Mary’s Church, 326 College Street, Middlebury, VT 05753.

 

Andre’s spirit will live on in the warmth he shared and the joy he brought to every gathering. His family and friends will carry his memory forward with love.
