Anna Eloise (Moulton) Haigis
Shelburne Anna Eloise (Moulton) Haigis, 88, of Ferrisburgh and previously South Burlington died peacefully on February 8, 2016 of complications from congestive heart failure and Alzheimers She was born on November 2, 1927 in Burlington, Vermont, daughter of William Arthur Moulton and Lula Grace (Kendall) Moulton. She was one of six children including Walter, Kenneth, Marion, George and William Jr.
Ann, as she was known, graduated from Burlington High School and worked as a bookkeeper and business manager, including manager of the Quarry Hill Club in South Burlington. She married John Richard (Dick) Haigis Sr. (predeceased) on September 17, 1949. They lived most of their life in South Burlington and Ferrisburgh. She was an active member of the All Saints Episcopal Church in South Burlington and subsequently St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Vergennes. She was also an enthusiastic member of the Red Hat Society.
She was both a leader and willing participant in any effort that meant lending a hand to family and friends alike. Her avocation was her family and she practiced it well throughout her life always encouraging and supporting those she cared about to be their best. One of her great joys was reading to the students at the Ferrisburgh Elementary School.
She is survived by her five children: Carol Ann Heise of Honduras; Frederick William Haigis of Salem MA; John Richard Haigis Jr. of Mamaroneck NY; Kurt Peter Haigis of Ferrisburgh VT and Heidi Ruth Haigis of Rohnert Park CA. She is also survived by nine grandchildren and many nieces and nephews..
Funeral services will be held at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, 6 Park St, Vergennes, VT 05491 at 10 AM on Saturday, February 13, 2016. There will also be a drop by reception and storytelling following at 285 Haigis Lane.
