                Arthur (Tony) Rose, 76, passed away Sunday, June 13th at Porter Medical Center in Middlebury with his daughters by his side following a brief illness.

                He was born on March 11, 1945 in Vergennes the son of Arthur Vance Rose and Gertrude (Collum) Rose.

                He was a member of Vergennes American Legion. Tony worked for many years at Fishman’s Department store here in Vergennes and Danform Shoes in Shelburne. Tony also belonged to the National Guards for 36 years here in Vergennes. His hobbies were fishing and spending time with his daughters and their families. Tony also enjoyed going on family vacations to Wells, Maine every summer

                Tony is survived by his daughters. Lisa (Rose) Currier and her husband Michael Currier of Bristol, and Sarah (Rose) Preston of Monkton. His grandchildren and great-grandchildren were his life. Grandchildren Kayla, Ryan, Isabella, Eliza, and Gabriella; and great-grandchildren Zachary Jr, Hayden, Brianna, Ryder, Hudson, and Nash. Sisters Irene Brinkman of Vergennes, Marjorie Stupp and her husband Russell of Virginia, Florence (Chickie) Gude and her husband Tom of Flordia, a brother Newton (Johnny) of Williston,  and Martha (Mert) Thackery and her husband Steven of North Carolina.  Along with many nieces and nephews.

 Tony is predeceased by his parents, his loving wife Mary Alice, and a brother William (Billy). 

                Service will be held on August 7th at 1:00 pm at Saint Peter’s Catholic Church and burial immediately following at Prospect Cemetery in Vergennes. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Arch at Porter Medical Center in honor of Tony.
