Blair Strachan Hall
Blair Strachan Hall passed away at home in Starksboro surrounded by her family on Oct 28,2024. She was born March 27, 1940, in Norwalk, CT to Donald Cheyne Strachan and Arline (Warnock) Strachan. Blair grew up in Westport, CT, until age fourteen when the family moved to Burlington. She attended Oak Grove School in Vassalboro, Maine, and later graduated from Burlington High School in 1957. Blair received an Associate Degree from the University of Minnesota. She married Robert Brooks Hall November 26, 1964. She is survived by her husband and three children and their significant other’s. Heather Ragsdale and her husband Eric. Meridith McFarland and Kate Holmes. Robert Renwick Hall and his wife Jessica. Blair is also survived by three grandchildren, Eleanore and Isaac Ragsdale and Jorden Hall. Also, her brother John Strachan of Morgantown, NC., and her sister Sharon Surhoff of Tucson, AZ. Plus many cousins and friends. She was predeceased by her parents, her sisters Gail Frasier and Leonie Sanders and her two brothers-in-law Terry and Jed Hall.
Blair was a loyal and loving wife for nearly sixty years. She and Bob raised three children to be responsible citizens in their community. Blair’s forte was being a hostess. Her passion for bringing people together was evident in the countless joyful celebrations she organized where all felt welcomed and loved. Blair was fortunate to be a stay-at-home mom in the early years but after the kids were in school worked at several interesting jobs including Country Home Products and Soundview Executive Book Summaries.
In 2015 Blair and Bob moved from the “Big House” on Rte 17 to the smaller Red House on the hill. Sadly the clouds of dementia began to enfold around Blair. They say, “It takes a village ….” and it does, to care for the elderly too. We are grateful to the wonderful girls at Snap’s who understood the situation. We wish to thank so many people for their wonderful and understanding support over the last few years. Our thanks to the many folks who brought her home from her wanderings. We are especially thankful to the hospice staff for their compassionate care and dedication, ensuring that her final days were filled with dignity and peace.
A family gathering will be held in the spring. In lieu of flowers any contributions could be made to Hospice or the Lawrence Memorial Library in Bristol.

Hall Family, the Moore family sends you hugs and prayers. Your mom was such a light in our lives. We can still hear her laugh. We grieve her passing but remember the joy she brought to all our lives. So many memories…. The goat in the house! Your mom telling my dad that he could bring the puppy (Lockwood) back next weekend, paddle tennis in the winter at midnight. She was such fun, always welcoming. Our parents cherished the friendship with your parents and we loved visiting your family.
Buell’s Gore is missing a star.
With much love, Wendie, Emily and Nell
