                 Catherine M. Nolan, 93, passed away Saturday, September 8, 2018 at her home in Monkton VT after a long illness.  She was born May 30, 1925 in Worcester, MA, the daughter of Patrick and Mary (Donoghue) Dwyer.  Catherine spent much of her childhood in Auburn MA.  After graduating from Auburn High and working for several years, she moved back to Worcester MA with her family where she lived for much of her life.  In 1975, she and her husband, Joseph E. Nolan, moved to Trumbull CT and lived there for almost 16 years.  They then retired to Chatham MA in 1992.  After being widowed for a number of years, she went back to Worcester and lived there until she moved with one of her daughters to Monkton VT in 2014 to spend her final years.

                Over her life, Catherine was active in many church organizations and several art groups.  She loved cooking and painting but most of all she loved being with family and friends.  For the people she knew and loved, she is remembered most for her kind and gentle spirit.

                She is survived by her four daughters: Mary E. Poirier of Auburn MA, Patricia A. New of Monkton VT, Kathleen E. Nolan of Monkton VT, and Margaret T. McKenna of Glenallen VA.  She also leaves five grandchildren, two great grandchildren, her sister Mary E. (Dwyer) Foran and several nieces and nephews.  Her husband, Joseph E. Nolan, her brother, Sylvester J. Dwyer, and her sister, Margaret T. Dwyer, all pre-deceased her.

                Visiting hours will be held Friday, September 14th at Brown-McClay Funeral Home in Bristol VT from 6 to 8 p.m. A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 9 a.m. on Saturday, September 15th at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel in Charlotte VT. A graveside service will be held 1 p.m. on Monday, September 17th at St. John Cemetery, 260 Cambridge St., Worcester, MA.
