Daniel Edward Cox Jr., 52, passed away Saturday, August 12, 2017 at University of Vermont Health Center in Burlington.  He was born November 26, 1964 in Burlington the son of Ralph “John” and Patricia White. Dan had two passions in life; music and family.  His love of music started at a very early age singing and playing guitar.  He started his first band Encore in 1985 with his mother Patricia.  Dan played with numerous bands throughout the years and was joined in many times with his son Daniel on drums and sister Elizabeth singing lead.  When there wasn’t a band available he played on sing snap, around a bonfire or karaoke.  For the last several years Dan played lead vocal and rhythm guitar with Dark Horse preforming throughout Vermont.  Dan and his wife Robin formed Love Struck; a duet created while preforming for campers in Maine.

Dan’s love of family came in many forms.  He loved the outdoors, spending time in the woods, camping, shooting guns and bows.  He spent many a day on his boat fishing.  He especially loved hunting and fishing with his family. He also loved spending time on their small farm, D&R Ranch, working with his menagerie of animals. Dan was a fanatic at making technology bigger, faster and better.  He was always willing to help someone with a computer problem and passed his knowledge and wisdom of these machines to his son Daniel and nephew Oliver.  Dan loved working with his hands, as well as wood working.  He was a die-hard Red Sox and Chiefs fan and was a member of the Eagles Club, Saint Ambrose Church and recently started driving for the Bristol Rescue Squad.

Dan was a dedicated family man.  His love of family was second to none.  He is survived by his wife Robin Cox, children Kimberlee Jimmo and her husband Tim, Jerimiah Gibbs, Daniel Cox III and his fiancée KC, Julie Cox, Samantha Cox and Courtnee Cox.  He has four grandchildren; Kolbey, Isabelle, Nevaeh and Bensyn expected in the fall.  He is also survived by his mother Patricia White, brother Kevin White, and sister Elizabeth Roy and her husband Jacob; their three children Oliver, Abigail and Evan, Brother-in-Law Walter Vaillancourt, as well as many Aunts, Uncles, Nieces, Nephews and Cousins.  He was predeceased by his father Ralph “John” White, sister Jackie Jackson and cousin Roger Strong.

Dan will be extremely missed and always loved by many.  A memorial service will be held 10 a.m. on Thursday, August 17th at St. Ambrose Catholic Church in Bristol with a reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Bristol Rescue Squad.  To send online condolences to his family please visit brownmcclayfuneralhomes.com
