Nancy Rebecca Young

Nancy Rebecca Young, 65, of Jericho went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, July 2, 2017 at the McClure Miller VNA Respite House in Colchester surrounded by family.

Nancy was born on March 21, 1952 in Middlebury, VT to the late Ralph and Elsie (Trudeau) Young.   She graduated from Champlain Valley Union High School in 1970.  She earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Education from the University of Vermont in 1974.  She taught adult education, enjoying helping adults earn their GED.  She later moved to North Carolina to teach on a Cherokee Reservation.  Upon returning home, she worked with Employment Services to help others find jobs.

Nancy enjoyed swimming, reading, and being involved in the church.  However, her greatest joy was spending time with her family, especially her nieces and nephews.  Whether she was attending their events, teaching them about life, or supporting their dreams; she always made sure they were a priority in her life.  She was a very strong, intelligent, giving woman who put her family and faith first.  She will be greatly missed.

Nancy is survived by her brother, Mark Young; sister Linda Wheel; nieces and nephews Stephanie Walp (husband Brian), Tonya Waldron (husband Jeramiah), Anthony Wheel (wife Natasha), and Matthew Wheel (wife Katie); and great nieces and nephews Aaron, Joshua, Kyla, Kovar, Annalise, and Hadley.  She is also survived by her aunts Doris Cousino and Betty Ferris (husband Joe); brother-in-law Roy McDonald; and their families.  She was preceded by her sister Elaine McDonald in 1999.

Visitation will be on Saturday, July 8, 2017 at 12 pm at the Church of the Nazarene, 30 Morgan Parkway, Williston, VT with a funeral service following at 12:30 pm.  Interment will be at Maple Cemetery in Lincoln.  Please contact the Browns Funeral Home in Bristol for additional information.  To send online condolences to her family please visit brownmcclayfuneralhomes.com
