Paul Douglas Farr passed away surrounded by his loving family at the Helen Porter Healthcare Rehabilitation Center in Middlebury on December 29, 2018.
He was born on March 24, 1932 in Lincoln, the second son of Harvey and Pauline Farr.
He graduated from Bristol High School in 1950 where he was a member of the basketball and baseball teams. He was also president of the Future Farmers of America.
Paul married Elizabeth (Betty) O’Brien on April 22, 1962, in Vergennes, VT and were married for 56 years. He grew up on the family farm in Bristol, then worked as a machine operator then self-taught machinist at Polymers Inc., in Middlebury, VT until his retirement in 1997. Paul was an avid hunter, fisherman, beekeeper, little league coach and dedicated Red Sox and Celtics fan. In his travels, he saw Alaska, went game hunting in Newfoundland, Montana and he and Betty took in ten years of Women’s Basketball Final Four games in different cities.
Paul is survived by his wife Betty, his son Scott from Springfield, VT his daughter Sarah from Lincoln, VT and his granddaughter Ella from Berlin, VT. Paul was predeceased by his brothers, Harvey and Lawrence (Tot) and stepfather Sherman Orvis.
He will remembered for always willing to help others but reluctant to ask for help. Paul was proud of his family and always in attendance at his children’s athletic games.
A graveside service will be in the spring held 11 a.m. on Saturday, April 27,2019 at Maple Cemetery in Lincoln with a reception following. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in memory of Paul to Homeward Bound, Addison County Humane Society, Boardman Street, Middlebury, VT.
