Robert C. Bell, 94, passed away Saturday, November 30, 2019 at The Arbors at Shelburne.

He was born on June 14, 1925 in Fryeburg, ME the son of Merton and Mae Charles Bell.

He enlisted in the Navy in 1944 and was Honorably Discharged in 1946. After his return home, he owned a log truck and hauled wood from Maine to Vermont for a few years. He married Margaret Linscott in Bridgton, ME on March 23, 1951. Shortly after, he began working for H.P. Hood, where he worked in the milk plant and as a field man until his retirement.

He was a member of Dorchester Lodge #1 F&AM since 1962 and the Cairo Temple Patrol & Drum Corps for 40+ years.

He enjoyed working in the pulling rings at Addison County Fair & Field Days for 40 years, Champlain Valley Fair for 30+ years, and Fryeburg Fair for around 40 years. He worked Fryeburg Fair with much of his family and it was his favorite time of the year.

In his retirement, he enjoyed hunting, woodworking, puttering around the house (as he would say), and attending other pulling events throughout Vermont. You could also find him at his son’s and granddaughters’ many sporting events.

His family would like to thank the staff at The Arbors at Shelburne for the loving care they gave to their husband, father, and grandfather.

Bob is survived by his wife, Margaret of Vergennes, VT, his son, Gene and his wife, Barbara of Bristol, VT, his granddaughters Stephanie Bell of Bristol, VT, Jamie Fernandes, her husband Brian and Great Grandson, Mack of Seattle, WA, and Jessica Brigante and her family of South Burlington, VT. He also leaves behind two very special nieces Loma Bell of Gorham, ME and Marlene James of Windham, ME. He is predeceased by his sister, Marcia and his brothers Owen, Geddy, Paul and Skip.

A graveside service will be in the spring. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Shriners Hospitals for Children, 516 Carew Street, Springfield, MA 01104.
