Floriant George Ouellette, 84, of Waltham, Vermont, left us sadly on March 4th, 2024.
George (A.KA. The Good Guy) was born in Quebec, Canada on June 28th, 1939. In 1945, George moved to the United States with his family and settled in Whiting, Vermont, where he began his farming career at a young age.
He met the love of his life, Mary Doner, in 1956, and they married in 1959. He raised six children with his devoted wife on their family farm.
In 1974, George sold the farm and started O&S Trucking. However, his true passion remained farming. In time, he purchased a new farm in Waltham, Vermont, which he operated alongside his oldest son, Jeffrey Ouellette, until 2008.
Some of George’s greatest joys were playing cards, snowmobiling, bowling, but most of all, spending cherished time with his family and friends. He had a warm smile and gregarious spirit that brought people together.
Floriant is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Mary; six children: Elisa Jaring (deceased), Marlene Sorrell and her partner Chris Marshall, Jeffrey Ouellette and his wife Betsy, Cindy Ouellette, David Ouellette and his partner Penny Armell, and Randy Ouellette and his wife Anna; 17 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren and two step-great-grandchildren; and many extended family members.
Services will be held on Monday, March 11th at 11 am at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Vergennes, with a celebration of life immediately following at the Eagles Club. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Vergennes Area Rescue Squad in George’s memory.
