Floyd Charles Smith Jr., 60, passed away peacefully Monday, April 10, 2023 with his daughter in law by his side at his home in South Lincoln.      

 He was born November 17, 1962 in Franklin, NH the son of Floyd and Emma (Fenton) Smith Sr.

He spent most of his childhood in Vergennes, VT and graduated from Middlebury Union High School in 1980. Some of his fondest memories were playing on the Middlebury Football Team.

The majority of his career, Floyd worked in Solid Waste Management for the Town of Middlebury and the Town of Brandon. He ended his career at Vermont Woodcraft in Brandon, VT.

Floyd was a dedicated softball player and baseball coach, avid fisherman, and enjoyed collecting cards. He was a devoted father, who loved spending time with family and friends, hanging out telling stories, and watching sports. Floyd cared about everyone that knew him and loved helping others. He took pride in being a member of the community and was always happy to lend a hand.

Floyd is survived by his mother Emma Smith. His son Cody Smith and wife Rochelle Sargent Smith of Lincoln. His step sons Caleb Benedict of Houston, TX, and Zack Benedict of Bristol. His siblings Paul Smith of Salisbury, Ronnie Ely of Nixa, MO, and David Ely of Lebanon, MO.

He was predeceased by his father Floyd Charles Smith Sr. and brother Bryon Lewis Smith.

                A celebration of life will be held Sunday June 25th, 2023 at 11:00 AM in Lincoln.

 In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Homeward Bound Addison County Humane Society at 236 Boardman St. Middlebury, VT 05753.
