Linda Charlotte Hawkins-75 years Ferrisburgh, VT
Born to Chester and Dorothy (White) Hawkins
Linda lived her whole life on her family homestead, on Hawkins Rd in Ferrisburgh. They even named a bay in the lake in their honor.
Her love for animals is unconditional, from the very first time she brought home a kitten from the barn. It only grew from there. To her extreme fondness of horses of which our family has had many, and still have 2 to entertain. It doesn’t stop there, her ability to raise and train dogs, in turn she took much comfort. Also in turn many others have been able to take happiness in the company.
Now let’s not forget the fun hunting here in the Green Mountains, and mom’s favorite the venison, YUMMY! Plus, many other treats.
Linda fought a long and hard battle with cancer, more rounds in the ring then Tyson till the end.
Tough Lady. To the point she was able to spend her last weeks at home. Much to her enjoyment and delight.
Linda was predeceased by her parents, her husband, brother, and niece.
Linda leaves behind her two sons-Chad Steady of Charlotte & Lance Steady of Ferrisburgh.
One Nephew-Scott Hawkins
Six Grandchildren-Kristopher Gunn, Stanley Steady, Sarah Gunn, Katherine Bushey Lahar, Bella Fysh & Kayla Fysh.
Three Great Grandchildren-Melinda Gunn, Alice Fysh & Tommy Gunn (yes like the gun)
Plus many others (Joe & Cristy) and all the caretakers and nurses that have helped alone the way!
Funeral services will be held 11:30 a.m. on Friday, February 28th 2020 at Brown-McClay Funeral Home in Vergennes. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Morgan Horse Farm, Weybridge, VT. To my “other mom” as you called yourself in your wonderful letters over the years – you will be missed by so many and Vergennes will be a little emptier. Sending so much love to you and your boys Lance and Chad , who will miss you so much. All my love, Vicki
I want to extend my sincere condolences to Linda’s family. She and her parents were very kind and generous to me when I was younger. I spent many happy days and nights there on the farm. Dorothy was our leader for our 4-H horse club. Linda was a great rider. She had hundreds of ribbons and trophies won by her and Nosey Buck. RIP Linda. May you and Bucky enjoy your heavenly rides.
Very sorry to hear of your mother’s passing. She was a very kind and generous woman!
Lance and Chad,
I want to extend my deepest sympathies for the loss of your Mom. I enjoyed working with her for many years. She had a very big heart and her family was her pride and joy. We shared a love for dogs and we enjoyed talking about their antics. I will surely miss her. My sympathies as well to the rest of her extended family. May Linda now be at peace.
