Marion Rose Holcomb

Marion Rose Holcomb, 80, passed away on Thursday, April 14 2022. Surrounded by her family, she stayed lionhearted until the end of an extensive battle with Alzheimers.

She was born March 19, 1942 in Moriah, New York, the daughter of Roy and Rose (Laplante) Edson. She was raised by Rose and wonderful step father, Raymond (Bunt) Lattrell.

It was the simple pleasures of life that brought great joy to Marion. You could often find Marion, better known to most as “Meme”, enjoying time with Butch and Molly. Meme worked endlessly on her beautiful flower gardens and making sure her birds were well fed. She often watched them out her bay windows, while baking something tasty in the kitchen. Meme was the host of many family gatherings e.g. holidays, birthdays, graduations, and backyard bbq’s. If there was an event, Meme was sure to open her doors wide for everyone to come together.

Marion is survived by her husband Carlyle (Butch) Holcomb of 33 years and their dog, Molly, her daughter Penny Clark and husband Shawn West, Step-daughter Lisa Holcomb Petrie (and husband Damon Petrie), her grandchildren Christopher Clark, Shawn West Jr, Linda West, and Tyler Bodette, her two great granddaughters Miley Clark and Rowan Lee, as well as her niece Shelley Edson, and nephew Randry Edson. Predeceased by her brother Alfred Edson and his wife Nan.

Marion (Meme) will be honored Wednesday, April 20th from 6-8p.m. at Brown-McClay Funeral Home in Vergennes. A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 11a.m. on Thursday, April 21st  at St. Jude Catholic Church in Hinesburg. In Lieu of flowers contribution may be made to Alzheimer’s Association, 300 Cornerstone Drive #130, Williston, VT 05495 or to send online condolences to her family please visit www.brownmcclayfuneralhomes.com

The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the caregivers who cared for Marion at Birchwood Terrace during her time there and the wonderful staff with Bayada.
